Fête du Beaujolais at Argoe.
As is tradition, on the third Thursday of November (20th) we will be celebrating the annual release of the new Beaujolais vintage with an evening of feasting, juicy, fresh wines from some of our favourite suppliers, and a one-off menu bringing a Gallic tone to our usually Iberian centred cooking.
This will also mark a departure from our focus on seafood, and offer us a chance to showcase consciously reared meat from Cornish farms. Meat cookery at Argoe?! Unexpected, yes, but certain to be one not to miss.
Naturally, the menu finds itself in France, but will not necessarily be bound by traditional recipes. There will be flavours that wander elsewhere, with spice and influence from further afield, exploring a style of cooking that some of France’s best modern restaurants exemplify.
There will be coq au vin, but in place of the classic braise, the chicken will very likely see the heat of grill, and Angus‘ obsession with grilled skewers and flavours from the edges of Europe will finally have an outlet on an Argoe menu.
There will be terrines and there will be baguettes fresh from the oven, there will be patisserie from Al and of course, there will be cheese before pudding, the French and only way.
We will be pouring two bottles from the 2025 harvest, as well as a couple of others from the Beaujolais appellation.
First up, Cosima Bassoul, considered a major part of the vanguard of young, innovative producers in the region, with her first nouveau bottling, sourced from Alex at The Modest Merchant. And to complement it, a first nouveau offering from our friends at Modal Wines, from Boulliat Collonge - We are very excited to share these wines with you in a couple of weeks time.
The evening will offer a set menu format with two sittings, at 6 & 8.30, for a four course meal shared on one long table. Tickets are £55 and include a glass of Beaujolais Nouveau on arrival.
Come and enjoy the freshness of new wine at a time of year we all need something to look forward to. Booking enquiries below.
